They will not need to be confronted with facts and ideas that go against their beliefs - that is unless they want to crusade against misguided shadows. The Internet has given everyone the ability to chain themselves into the cave of their choosing. The only explanation is that we are living in these caves. We wonder why people disregard evidence that goes contrary to their belief, but Plato recognized this weird behavior over two thousand years ago. Will he not fancy that the shadows which he formerly saw are truer than the objects with are now shown to him?Īnd if he is compelled to look straight at the light, will he not have a pain in his eyes which will make him turn away to take refuge in the objects of vision which he can see, and which he will be conceive to be in reality clearer than the things which are now being shown to him? In the Republic, Socrates talks about what happens to these prisoners if they are brought out of the cave and into the light. I don’t mean this in the conspiracy theory sense, but more in the observation that we don’t really get to see the world as it is, because it is not perceived as the thing that sells. The current election cycle, with its madness, is dedicated to making us think that the shadows are the truth. We all move through these caves, and we pay admission to them. As we move through our days, markets, advertisers, politicians, and even the new media try to get us to sit in their version of the cave. It also occurred to me that these aren’t our only caves. But the reality is, they didn’t chain us here. And we know that they try to manipulate us to be happy or unhappy, maybe even the way we vote. They are the ones tending the fire that casts the shadows. We’ve been chained to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and so on by the owners and operators of these companies. My first thought was that it was Mark Zuckerberg and his ilk. This led me to the question: who chained us here? We all sit, looking in only one direction at the digital shadows that dance in front of us. To them, I said, the truth would be literally nothing by the shadows of the images. Above and behind them a fire is blazing at a distance, and between the fire and the prisoners, there is a raised way and you will see, if you look, a low wall built along the way, like the screen which marionette players have in front of them, over which they show the puppets….Īnd they only see their own shadows or the shadows of one another, which the fire throws on the opposite wall of the cave…. Socrates: And now, I said, let me show in a figure how far our nature is enlightened or unenlightened: - Behold! human being living in an underground den, which has a mouth open towards the light and reaching all along the den here they have been from their childhood, and have their legs and necks chained so that they cannot move, and can only see before them, being prevented by the chains from turning round their heads. You would think with all the knowledge at our fingertips, we would be more enlightened, but Plato/Socrates was right: Then it occurred to me, we are living in versions of Plato’s cave. I was thinking about Plato’s Republic - like you do - and wondering why the allegory of the cave is taught so often. With the Standard edition, we manage replication between the two nodes and perform an automatic failover in the case of any failure of the Master node (because of either an un-planned server failure, or in the event of planned patching maintenance). Standard – A multi-node, replicated cache configured in a two-node Master/Replica configuration for high-availability, and backed by an enterprise SLA.Basic – A single cache node, without a formal SLA, recommended for use in dev/test or non-critical workloads. We plan to support even higher-memory options in the future.Įach Redis cache size option is also offered in two editions: The Azure Redis Cache Service is today offered in the following sizes: 250 MB, 1 GB, 2.8 GB, 6 GB, 13 GB, 26 GB, 53 GB. This is reflected in the diverse set of Redis clients available across multiple languages. Other features include support for transactions, pub/sub, Lua scripting, keys with a limited time-to-live, and configuration settings to make Redis behave more like a traditional cache.įinally, Redis has a healthy, vibrant open source ecosystem built around it. Unlike traditional caches which deal only with key-value pairs, Redis is popular for its support of high performance data types, on which you can perform atomic operations such as appending to a string, incrementing the value in a hash, pushing to a list, computing set intersection, union and difference, or getting the member with highest ranking in a sorted set. The Azure Redis Cache is now the recommended distributed cache solution we advocate for Azure applications. Martin’s occasional super-sized editions of her popular novel series. What Would Have Happened in Season 3: Showrunner Rachel Shukert told Vulture that she “really wanted to do a Super Special,” referring to author Ann M. “She can start making her mark, and she can start being more active and less reactive.” In the wake of that, “she can start meeting the company in the way she wants to meet it,” Spitzer told TVLine during a post mortem interview. In the Season 2/series finale, Gasteyer’s Katherine scored an unexpected win with sales of the unimpressive Pika car, allowing her and her team to keep their jobs. Just days after NBC hit the brakes on the Ana Gasteyer-led workplace comedy, series creator Justin Spitzer shared on Twitter that Season 3″ was going to show Katherine Hastings and Payne Motors finally finding success and taking the world by storm.” Read on for our roundup of what might have been, then share your laments in the comments (and/or invite us to seek out the scoop on other gone-too-soon favorites). Short of outright resurrection, it’s always nice to have some sense of “closure,” right? So we have rounded up the scoop on more than 50 cancelled shows and what that “next season” would have been about - keeping in mind that, when the axe wound is especially tender (and when there is theoretical hope for salvation), showrunners can be reluctant to completely spoil their plans.Įven so, the handy list below delivers the goods on a wide variety of shows, from the “long gone” (such as Brothers and Sisters and Kyle XY) to the more recently snuffed (like American Auto and The Resident), from one-and-dones ( Lovecraft Country!) and two-and-tossed ( God Friended Me!) to longer-running faves ( Castle Season 9, we do not mourn thee). But in many instances, that “coming season” never came, because the show wound up getting cancelled - oftentimes unceremoniously, and sometimes quite unexpectedly. Over the years, TVLine’s post mortem interviews have invited showrunners to break down the latest finale and then tease the coming season. Well, TVLine has the answer to that question, for more than 50 fallen favorites. That is the inevitable, sorrowful refrain from the fans of any cancelled TV show. Traction was acceptable and it felt magnificent on the highway since this tire is designed for straight-line driving at higher than average speeds, but that’s about it. It’s not pretty bad, but sporting apprehensions inside a big and hulky SUV will only serve to water down your confidence with these tires. The Kumho Crugen HT51 is not particularly stellar in terms of dry traction. Let me give it to you straight since this is a critical part of our review. That’s the right tire for your SUV or truck. If you have a sporty SUV and you want a highway tire that prioritizes sportiness and grip over tread wear or comfort than you should take a look at the Kumho Crugen Premium K元3. It’s a mid-spec laptop and not an aggressive gaming machine. It’s a training sneaker instead of running shoes. However, the Kumho Crugen HT51 is geared more towards comfort and long tread wear rather than all-out traction and grip. This tire is available in 15” to 18” wheels and can also be used on plus-size aftermarket wheels. The Kumho Crugen HT51 is an all-season highway tire designed for pickup trucks and midsize or full-size SUVs. These tires are designed for economical, quiet, and comfortable cruising, all of which are perfect attributes for the hulky Suburban. My Suburban is equipped with the 17-inch factory wheels and Kumho Crugen HT51 tires. It’s a 2009 Chevrolet Suburban LT1 SUV! Yes, it’s got loads of space, acres upon acres of comfort, and a terrific gas-guzzling 5.3-liter V8 motor. What could be a better way to start this Kumho Crugen HT51 review rather than introducing my test car. The interior really shows the heart of the F-350 Crew Cab 4×4 it is built from. And with only two owners, it has been properly pampered. The deep red color scheme is continued in the red interior. And with a beefy 7.5 L V8, it is sure to rattle the pavement. Surprisingly, this particular Centurion has only 72,026 miles, ensuring this baby will be on the road for a long time. But the vehicle offered comfort with its nice interior and high-end amenities. It could go off-road with a lot of confidence and swagger it could tow, haul, crawl, go mudding. It was a solid four-door SUV that was rugged and rough, but it offered spacious seating. It was a four door Bronco - sort of a heavy-duty conversion, more or less. Had it continued, it might have really taken a direct hit at the Chevy Suburban. Leaving behind a rare and somewhat quirky legacy. When the Bronco was pulled from the Blue Oval lineup in 1996, so too was the Centurion. The Centurion was produced from 1987 to 1996. The Centurion Classic came in two models: the C-150 and the C-350, produced using either an F-150 or an F-350. For the Centurion, they combined an F-Series truck with a Bronco chassis. The Blue Oval had previously worked with the company on other vehicles. So, you might be thinking: What am I looking at, exactly? Ford teamed up with Michigan-based coachmaker and converter Centurion Vehicles to create the truck. A four-door Bronco but with F-series DNA? Together in two tones, it is unbeatable. With the body of a Bronco, it has all the versatility, too. Powered by a 7.5-liter V8, this sturdy ride has all the power of an F-350. Definitely a rare find, this Ford Centurion C-350 was one of only about 2,000 produced, and it bears the chassis number 581. We found this beauty for sale in Boise, Idaho, via Facebook. It kind of defies a category, but not logic. 3,588 new Ford Bronco models for sale nationwide, including a Ford Bronco Outer Banks 4 Door Advanced 4WD and a Ford Bronco Big Bend 2 Door Advanced 4WD.Prices for a new Ford Bronco currently range from 787 to 149,707. The Centurion Classic was, well, a weird truck. We love finding a rare Ford truck with universal appeal, especially when we can feature that rig for “ Two Tone Tuesday.” So, when we spotted this white and maroon 1990 Ford Centurion C-350, we knew we had hit the jackpot. This is a bulletproof barely used 1 Ton truck that happens to look like a 4 door Bronco. Was it a four-door Bronco? An F-350 conversion? Ford’s first-of-its-kind SUV? Yes. The center row seat is a 60/40 split bench design, adjustable, and features a fold and tumble capability. Third row seat folds down flat and is also removable via two large heavy duty hand tightened bolts. They added a third seat and provisions for rear A/C as well as other options. Centurion removed the bed, shortened the frame from the rear end and then grafted the Bronco back-half to the body. This truck started out as a full one-ton four-wheel drive crew cab Ford F-350 with a 460 cubic inch (7.5L) engine. By comparison there were 14,368 Shelby Mustangs built between 19. I put in a fresh 9V battery from a store that I'm sure has a lot of stock turnover, but the problem occurred again a couple days later. Come back later and everything will work fine. Anyway, you can enter the code, hear the "click-click" that indicates it's unlocking the mechanism (from the outside ), but it doesn't release the lock. I do have some that are cold on both sides & they work fine. By the way, the inside portion of the door latch mechanism resides in a heated building, so it's not entirely cold.
